Typical Applications
Food Ingredients: Laboratory spray drying of beverage flavors and colorants, milk and egg products, and plant or vegetable extracts.
Pharmaceutical & Biochemical Materials: Spray drying of pharmaceutical formulations, enzyme preparations, biological products, and selected heat-sensitive materials.
Chemical & Polymer Materials: Processing of solutions, emulsions, and suspensions for chemical synthesis, polymers, resins, dyes, soaps, and detergents.
Functional & Specialty Materials: Laboratory powder preparation from ceramic slurries, fragrances, biochemical materials, and other specialty liquid feeds.
Droplet & Particle Control
Nozzle Configuration: A 1.00 mm two-fluid nozzle is provided for laboratory-scale atomization, with alternative configurations available based on feed characteristics and process requirements.
Feed Rate Adjustment: The peristaltic pump allows continuous adjustment of feed rate up to 3000 mL/h to match different process conditions.
Drying Residence Time: The nominal drying time is approximately 1.0–1.5 seconds, providing a short thermal exposure period for atomized droplets.
Particle Distribution: The process can produce powders with a relatively consistent particle-size distribution. Actual particle characteristics vary with feed properties and operating conditions.
Two-Fluid Atomization System
Separate Air-Gas Atomization: The two-fluid nozzle uses compressed air to atomize liquid feed before hot-air drying, with feed rate and atomization air controlled separately.
Integrated Air Supply: A built-in oil-free air compressor provides 108 L/min air flow with 1.2 kW power, eliminating the need for a separate compressor in the standard configuration.
Automatic Nozzle De-Blocking: A de-blocking pin automatically clears material buildup at the nozzle. The cleaning frequency is adjusted by the control system.
Optional Atomizer: The two-fluid nozzle is the standard atomization method. A centrifugal atomizer is available as an alternative configuration.
Drying Performance & Process Control
Temperature Range: Inlet air temperature: 30–300°C; outlet air temperature: 30–140°C.
PID Temperature Control: Real-time PID control regulates heating with a stated temperature control precision of ±1°C.
Touchscreen Monitoring: The color LCD touchscreen displays inlet and outlet temperatures, peristaltic pump speed, airflow rate, and nozzle-cleaning frequency.
Operating Protection: Pressing Stop stops the system while keeping the fan running to remove residual heat and protect the heating assembly.
Feed Material Compatibility
Solutions: Processes suitable liquid solutions for laboratory-scale conversion of dissolved materials into dry powder.
Emulsions & Suspensions: Accommodates emulsions and suspensions subject to feed viscosity, solids content, and nozzle compatibility.
Heat-Sensitive Materials: Suitable for selected heat-sensitive materials, including enzyme preparations, biopesticides, and biological products, with short drying exposure.
Sample Purity: An inlet air filter removes particles from incoming drying air to help control contamination during laboratory processing.
